Ian Barnes
Academy Director 

2013-2014 is Ian Barnes 11th year teaching and his ninth at Shades Valley. Mr. Barnes earned a B.S. in Industrial Distribution from UAB and worked for 13 years in the restaurant industry before achieving a Master's in Teaching from Georgia College and State University. He is currently pursuing an Ed. S in Business and Marketing Education at Auburn University. Mr. Barnes achieved National Board Certification in 2010. He teaches Principles of Finance, Business in a Global Economy, and is the Work-Based Learning Coordinator.

When not teaching Mr. Barnes enjoys spending time with his wife and three children, currently aged four, five, and eight.

Sharvan Johnson

Sharvan Johnson teaches Personal Finance and Accounting.

Heidi Kouveras

Heidi Kouveras teaches Career Preparedness and Entrpreneurship.

Chris Wood

Chris Wood received his bachelor's in Business Administration from Auburn University and worked for twelve years in the hotel industry before making a career change to education.  He has since earned a master's degree in Business Education also from Auburn University and taught high school for seven years. He currently teaches BTA, sponsors the Yearbook and coaches boys soccer.
